Mogadishu, Somalia — Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdisalam Ali on Sunday evening officially inaugurated Somalia’s new embassy in Algiers, marking a pivotal step in deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation between Somalia and Algeria.
The high-profile ceremony was attended by Ms. Salma Bakhta Mansouri, Secretary of State to the Algerian Foreign Minister, underscoring Algeria’s strong commitment to strengthening its partnership with Somalia. The event symbolized a renewed era of engagement, with both nations reaffirming their dedication to closer political, economic, and cultural ties.
Ali praised Algeria’s longstanding solidarity with Somalia, particularly in times of crisis, and expressed optimism that the new embassy would serve as a hub for expanded collaboration in areas such as trade, education, and security.
For her part, Mansouri welcomed Somalia’s diplomatic expansion in North Africa, noting that Algeria values Somalia as a strategic partner in promoting peace, regional stability, and African unity.
The Embassy inauguration comes at a time when Somalia is intensifying its foreign outreach, seeking stronger alliances across Africa and beyond to support its development agenda and enhance its global standing.
