The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) ordered all schools and universities in the country closed over the rising COVID-19 cases.
Over the last month, Somalia has witnessed an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Each day, the country reports hundreds of new COVID-19 cases.
Consequently, with the Ministry of Health warning that COVID-19 resurgence has hit the East African nation, the government has decided to close all schools.
The schools and universities would remain closed for the next two weeks.
Additionally, the government banned all large gatherings until the situation improves for the better around the country.
Somalia reported its first COVID-19 case in March 2020.
Immediately thereafter, the government closed all formal learning institutions as the country introduced curfews and lockdowns to curb the spread of the disease.
