Mogadishu, Somalia – The Second Deputy Prime Minister Jibriil Abdirashiid Abdi addressed a global industry forum on Monday, stating that the nation is at a “historic and decisive moment” while seeking international investment and expanding its blue-economy prospects.
At the 21st UNIDO General Conference, Abdi noted that Somalia’s extensive Indian Ocean coastline positions it as a potential regional hub for sustainable fisheries, with the government emphasizing maritime protection, processing industries, and access to global markets.
He indicated that Somalia is intensifying initiatives to enhance food security, increase fisheries production, and attract new investments into emerging blue-economy sectors.
The Deputy Prime Mlllinister further stressed the value of Somalia’s young population, explaining that the government is broadening partnerships in technical training and digital innovation to promote youth-led economic growth.
