Somalia Recalls Ambassador to Kenya

Somalia has recalled its Ambassador to Kenya with immediate effect.

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) took the decision on Sunday, November 30 in what appears to be yet another diplomatic conflict with Kenya.

Ambassador Mohamud Ahmed Tarsan was ordered to travel back to Mogadishu from Nairobi.

Similarly, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s administration expelled the Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia from the country immediately.

Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Lucas Tumbo was ordered out of Mogadishu after Villa Somalia urged him to return to Nairobi to await further instructions from the Kenyan government.

While ordering Ambassador Tarsan back home, the government said that it would be using this opportunity to engage in more consultations over the differences with Kenya.

There are reports that the differences could have arisen from President Ahmed Islam Madobe’s criticism of the government’s preparation for elections.
