Somalia has received $25 million from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to boost food security in the country.
FAO declared that it had secured the funds under a program known as TRANSFORM.
Through TRANSFORM, FAO and other stakeholders seek to rehabilitate critical infrastructure in Jowhar and other areas in the regional state of HirShabelle.
It will also promote climate-smart agriculture specifically for smallholder farmers.
Etienne Peterschmitt, in his capacity as the FAO Country Representative for Somalia, said that the new funding is timely.
He added that the funds would be of great benefit to the farming communities along Shabelle River.
