Somalia Receives 61 Tons of Weapons and Ammunition from the US

Somalia has received 61 tons of weapons and ammunition from the United States.

The weapons and ammunition arrived aboard two C-17 planes that flew in from the US on Tuesday.

US officials joined their counterparts to receive the artillery at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.

Somali National Army (SNA) will receive the weapons and ammunition immediately.

With the new donation, Somalia has now substantially increased its capacity for fighting terrorists in the nation.

Gen. Odawa Yusuf Rageh, the SNA chief, joined Tim Trenkle at the airport to receive the arms.

Trenkle is the Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Mogadishu.
