Somalia has received €450,000 from the European Union (EU) to help tackle the outbreak of measles in the country.
On July 16, the EU announced that it would be committing an additional €450,000 for the measles outbreak.
EU intends to disburse the funds through the CAAFIMAD consortium.
Action Against Hunger (ACF) would lead the consortium.
Somalia hopes that the funds would enable it to reduce morbidity and mortality arising from the disease.
A mass vaccination exercise would run for children under the age of 15 years at the district level.
Further, the funding would help to manage the most complicated cases medically.
Children under the age of 5 are to receive Vitamin A supplements as well.
Javier Rio Navarro, the Head of the EU’s Humanitarian Aid Office in Somalia, made this announcement on Saturday.
