The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has rejected African Union’s decision to adopt the post-2021 hybrid mission.
On October 21, Somalia released a statement on this issue through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Peace and Security Council (PSC) held its 1037th meeting on October 7 recommending the hybrid mission that Somalia opposes.
Somalia expressed regret at the decision.
“The foreign affairs ministry regrets the AU’s adoption of a hybrid system that Somalia opposes strongly,” read part of the statement.
According to the statement, Somalia accuses AU and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) of choosing “a path of obstruction” instead of pursuing cooperation.
