The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) released the $9.6 million that it seized from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2018.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble apologized to Somalia for the seizure.
The Prime Minister also promised that the government would refund the funds to the UAE.
However, incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo rejected the move thus stopping Somalia from proceeding with the refund.
Today, the East African nation has released the funds back to the UAE.
The initial seizure in April 2018 had created bad blood between the two nations.
Nevertheless, Somalia and the UAE have repaired the friction that existed between them initially. They now enjoy solid diplomatic relations.
