Somalia has recorded 127 new COVID-19 cases from 637 tests conducted on samples from different parts of the country over the last 24 hours.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that the tally of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 5,500 after the latest round of tests.
Furthermore, deaths stand at 172.
Banadir was responsible for 126 of the new cases. HirShabelle recorded one case.
Seventy-three of the cases were male while 54 were female.
Moreover, the federal health ministry announced that the country has now recorded 3,750 recoveries.
The large number of confirmed cases announced on February 17 is further confirmation that Somalia is experiencing a surge or second wave of COVID-19 cases.
