The Council of Ministers has called the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Somaliland and Ethiopia “illegal.”
Somali cabinet held an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre chaired the meeting.
They added that the agreement violated the territorial integrity of Somalia.
Somaliland agreed to grant Ethiopia access to its seaport of Berbera. Ethiopia would then recognize Somaliland as a nation.
Furthermore, Somalia recalled its Ambassador to Ethiopia with immediate effect.
