The political leadership of Somalia has set dates for the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
Federal Government of Somalia held a meeting with Federal Member States at Villa Somalia on Thursday and agreed on the dates for the parliamentary polls.
The meeting, on October 1, set aside December 1-10 as the dates for elections for the Senate or Upper House.
Meanwhile, December 10-27 was set aside as the dates for electing members of the House of Representatives or Lower House.
However, elections for the Speakers of both houses would take place together with those for the Presidency of Somalia on February 1-8, 2021.
Last month, FGS and FMS leaders met during the National Consultation Conference in Mogadishu and signed a deal on elections.
However, the deal never specified the dates for elections.
