Somalia Suspends Applications for Passports over Resurgence of COVID-19

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) suspended fresh applications for passports over resurgence of COVID-19 cases.

The Department of Immigration and Naturalization Service made this announcement on February 24.

In its statement, the immigration department said that the applications would cease as from February 27.

Thereafter, the government would lift the suspension when the situation improves.

The government said that this move was made necessary by the growing numbers of fresh COVID-19 cases.

Somalia has witnessed resurgence in COVID-19 over the last month.

Each day, the government’s Ministry of Health confirms hundreds of new COVID-19 cases as the death tally also increase.
