Somalia plans to establish the National Disaster Management Agency.
On August 16, the Somali cabinet discussed and approved the plans to establish the agency in response to the devastating drought that has hit the East African nation.
The cabinet met under the leadership of Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Tuesday.
To kick-start the process, the cabinet formed a committee comprising individuals from different sectors.
The committee has ministers and representatives of the business community.
Additionally, religious leaders and representatives of the civil society groups in Somalia are members of the committee.
