Somalia can look forward to a further donation of $411 million from the United States to help its drought mitigation measures.
Samantha Power, the head of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), announced the additional funds on Wednesday.
Consequently, this means the US has donated $1.3 billion towards the drought mitigation efforts in Somalia in 2022.
Power announced that the funds would bolster humanitarian efforts in the East African nation.
For the last few years, Somalia has experienced a drought that has caused a massive humanitarian crisis.
International organizations have repeatedly asked Somalia’s partners to intervene before the situation worsens.
