The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) is to start licensing aircraft in the country for the first time in over 30 years.
This was revealed on February 12.
On Friday, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation launched the Aircraft Registration and Issuing Professional Licensing department.
All professionals working in the aviation industry are to receive their registration details and licenses from the country’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Further, CAA would be responsible for registering and licensing aircraft too.
To this end, CAA has already kicked the new exercise off by registering the first tail number in the East African nation.
Several licenses were also issued to pilots and flight engineers in Friday’s ceremony.
