Somalia’s Ambassador to the US Mourns the Death of Dr. Hawa Abdi

Ambassador Ali Sharif, the Somalia Ambassador to the United States, sent a message of condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Hawa Abdi.

Dr. Abdi, a renowned humanitarian and medical doctor, died on August 5, 2020 in Mogadishu.

Her death shocked the entire country and Somalis around the world who knew the tremendous contribution she had made in the medical and humanitarian fields.

She won several awards for her exemplary humanitarianism.

Ambassador Sharif called her one of Somalia’s “exemplary icons.” He said her death had affected Somalis from all walks of life.

Sharif hopes that the ideals that shaped Dr. Abdi’s career and service to humanity would remain in the “collective conscious” of all Somalis.
