Yesterday, Somalis took to the streets to protest the government’s enforcement of the curfew. The daylong street protests led to the deaths of two Somalis.
On Friday night, angry civilians took on the police in Bondheere District to protest the brutality of the police in enforcing curfew in the country.
This week, the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) extended the curfew, which initially lasted from 8pm to 5am but will now start at 7pm and end at 5am.
Trouble started when a member of the elite police force shot at a crowd randomly. In the process, he shot and killed two civilians.
Afterward, protestors closed several streets, lit bonfires, and made their displeasure known. According to witnesses, one of the people the police killed was a pregnant woman.
