Mahdi Mohamed Gulleid, the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, visited De Martini Hospital in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
Gulleid was accompanied on his tour by the country’s Minister of Health, Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, and other officers from the health ministry.
They were shown around the hospital, which is the only health facility equipped to handle COVID-19 cases, by the institution’s Director General.
Early this year, the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) equipped the hospital with all the equipment needed for testing and treating COVID-19.
Gulleid and Dr. Nur said they were touring the hospital to check on the progress it has made in helping the country handle the pandemic.
