Mahdi M. Gulaid, the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia visited Kampala in the company of the country’s First Lady.
Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid and First Lady Saynab Abdi Moallim met with Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The three leaders met at State House Entebbe.
Saynab Moallim was in Uganda with Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid on a two-day working visit.
The highlight will be the commissioning of Atiak Sugar Factory, which is in Amuru District.
President Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest during the factory’s commissioning on Thursday, October 22.
The factory is the joint property of Horyal Investments Holding Co. Ltd and the Ugandan government.
A Somali entrepreneur known as Amina Hersi Moghe owns Horyal Investments Holding Co. Ltd.
Gulaid said that the commissioning of the factory is testament to the entrepreneurial skills that Somali businesspeople possess.
