Electoral talks between various stakeholders in Somalia are now set to resume next week in the nation’s capital.
An announcement made on March 17 shows that Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal State Members (FMS) representatives are to meet on Sunday.
It is not yet clear whether opposition candidates will attend the talks, though.
Already, the regional state leaders are in Mogadishu where they have been holding meetings with representatives of the country’s international partners.
The meetings between the leaders and international diplomats have been taking place at Halane Base Camp, a heavily fortified facility in the country’s capital.
Consequently, international partners succeeded in convincing FGS and FMS leaders to meet from March 21.
In the past, Jubbaland and Puntland have led calls for inclusion of opposition candidates in the electoral talks.
However, the government has adamantly refused to heed to those calls.
