The Somali National Army (SNA) elite units, including the Gorgor and Danab commandos, alongside the Haramcad police special wing, have initiated a significant offensive against Al-Shabaab militants in HirShabelle State.
This operation, which was launched on Thursday, comes in response to reports of Al-Shabaab militants regrouping in the region.
The multi-front offensive aims to disrupt the militants’ activities and prevent further consolidation of their forces.
Such operations are part of the broader efforts by the Somali government and its international partners to counter the insurgency and stabilize the region.
