Somalia’s Ex-Prime Minister Accuses Parliament of Disrespecting Own Laws to Ousting Khaire

Omar Sharmarke, a two-time former Prime Minister of Somalia, has accused the Federal Parliament of disrespecting its own laws to kick Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire out of office.

Sharmarke asked the current parliamentarians to examine their bylaws again to discover where they went wrong while ousting Prime Minister Khaire on Saturday.

Speaker Mohamed Mursal announced parliament’s decision on Saturday and asked President Mohamed Farmaajo to appoint a new Prime Minister immediately.

According to Sharmarke, some of the accusations levied against Khaire by Speaker Mursal were far-fetched and a matter of collective responsibility.

He says Khaire’s colleagues in the cabinet should be under pressure too for the failures that parliament apportioned at the doorstep of the ousted Prime Minister.

Sharmarke said President Farmaajo and the Federal Parliament are equally to blame for the failures as Khaire.
