Somalia’s fishing industry is to benefit from a cold chain system soon, Secure Fisheries announced on September 23.
Several organizations in the private and public sectors are to work together to make this a reality.
Secure Fisheries, Global Cold Chain Alliance, Somalia Seafood Exporters’ Association, and Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Aics Mogadiscio) are to work together on the project.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia and Puntland’s Ministry of Fisheries are to participate in the project too.
Through the partnership, some of the challenges facing the country’s fishing industry such as low profit margins, poor quality of seafood, and limited market size would be addressed.
