The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disowned a statement issued in solidarity with the government of Ethiopia.
On Wednesday, the ministry issued the statement via Twitter on official letterhead.
However, Ahmed Isse Awad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, disowned the statement a few hours later.
As per Awad’s statement, the ministry has not issued an official statement pledging solidarity with the administration of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Furthermore, Awad’s ministry deleted the statement it had previously posted on Twitter.
Currently, the Ethiopian government is in a heated battle with Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) after accusing it of “crossing the red line.”
