Former HirShabelle President Ali Abdullahi Osoble has called for the dissolution of HirShabelle State due to its ongoing struggles with insecurity, poor governance, and lack of progress.
In his appeal to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Osoble argued that the state has failed to deliver on its key objectives since its formation, with deepening clan conflicts and the continuing threat of Al-Shabaab in the region.
This call comes amid long-standing political tensions, particularly between the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions, exacerbating instability.
Osoble’s appeal aligns with growing dissatisfaction among certain communities and political figures, who have criticized the current leadership under President Ali Gudlawe.
They accuse Gudlawe of failing to address the state’s pressing challenges, including inadequate reconciliation efforts and a worsening humanitarian crisis.
