Reports from Mogadishu indicate that the immediate former Prime Minister of Somalia is expected to launch his presidential campaign in the next few moments.
Hassan Ali Khaire, who was voted out of office in late July after the House of Representatives passed a motion of no confidence in him, is scheduled to address the media any moment now.
Since his ouster from office, Khaire has maintained a low profile and not spoken about the current political situation in the country.
His announcement is set to take place at a time when the country has no substantive premier as Mahdi M. Gulaid has been the Acting Prime Minister for the last two months.
Furthermore, the country’s leadership has been meeting in Mogadishu to discuss the upcoming elections.
Khaire’s candidature is likely to change the political landscape in the country.
