Suleiman Ali Kore, the Minister of Information in the Federal Government of Somalia has been forced into self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
The news of his test results were confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.
Kore is one of the few top government officials to have tested positive for the deadly pandemic, which has ravaged Somalia for the last six months.
Somalia recorded its first case in March 2020.
Since then, the government imposed several measures to curb the spread of the deadly pandemic around the country.
As per the World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of Health protocols, Kore is expected to self-isolate for the next 14 days.
After that, he would be tested for the disease again to confirm if his status has changed.
