The Ministry of Information held a meeting with representatives from independent media in the country.
The meeting took place in Mogadishu on Tuesday, September 8.
During the meeting, representatives from the independent media presented their complaints to officials from the ministry.
Somalia’s information ministry organized the meeting to listen to the media’s grievances.
The Horn of Africa nation is one of the most oppressive countries for journalists to work in around the world.
Media owners and journalists are often arrested, detained, intimidated, and left frustrated haphazardly by authorities.
Media stations are also routinely shut down over the flimsiest of reasons.
