Somalia’s Lower House to Hold First Session Since the May 15 Presidential Polls

Somalia’s House of the People (Lower House) will hold its first session since the May 15 presidential elections.

Lower House has not held any session since President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud replaced Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo in Villa Somalia.

Speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe confirmed that the June 1 session will kick off at exactly 10.00 am.

Consequently, all the Lower House legislators are expected to keep time.

The Lower House Speaker reminded members that today’s session is about giving them a chance to understand parliament’s rules of procedure.

Legislators are expected to debate and review several laws in Wednesday’s session.

Currently, parliament is behind schedule as the 10th Parliament failed to pass several important laws.
