Somalia’s newly appointed Deputy Minister of Planning has resigned.
Mohamed Abdikadir Ali, who had just been appointed a deputy minister in the new cabinet that Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre announced on August 2, resigned a few moments later.
Ali said that he resigned after consulting the community that he represents.
He was one of the 25 deputy ministers that Prime Minister Barre announced on Tuesday.
The cabinet that the Prime Minister announced included 26 ministers, 25 deputies, and 25 state ministers.
The cabinet now awaits approval from the federal parliament.
However, Ali’s resignation means that Prime Minister Barre would have to go back to the drawing board to find his replacement for the planning ministry.
