Henley and Partners has ranked Somalia’s passport the fifth weakest in the world after releasing its latest rankings.
The United Kingdom firm has been ranking 199 of the world’s passports since 2006.
Globally, Somalia’s passport lands at the 106th position after getting 33 on the Henley and Partners’ mobility score.
Thirty-three represents the number of countries that a person with a Somali passport could travel to visa-free or by applying for and getting a visa on arrival.
Persons with Somali passports are only guaranteed visa-free access to six nations globally.
Further, such persons can only look forward to visa-on-arrival access to 26 nations worldwide.
In the latest rankings released by Henley and Partners, Somali’s passport is only ahead of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Pakistan.
Somalia is tied in the fifth position with Yemen, which also boasts of a score of 33.
Japan’s passport is the most powerful with a score of 191. Singapore’s is second while Germany and South Korea are tied in the third place.
