Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, has been accused of nepotism.
A document leaked to the media shows that the minister delegated a key role in the ministry to his daughter by appointing her a senior advisor.
The document reveals that Sumaya Abdirashid Mohamed, the minister’s daughter, is now the Communications and Media Officer in the ministry.
As per the leaked document, Sumaya was appointed into office on September 1, 2020.
Her appointment has already been communicated to all the partners and clients of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
A senior staff in the ministry told the media on condition of anonymity that the minister’s daughter was appointed to hide deals and payments her father carried out or ordered.
