Gamal H. Hassan, the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, has approved Somalia’s National Census Roadmap.
The planning minister approved the roadmap on November 22.
While at it, he also signed the National Call for Census.
The East African nation is currently making plans to hold its first national population and household census in decades.
Hassan said that the census is a crucial exercise for the future of Somalia.
According to him, the information gleaned from the census would help the government to not only develop relevant policies but also hold direct elections.
Additionally, the data would help the government to plan well and allocate resources accordingly.
