Somalia’s Quarterly Country Humanitarian Forum to Take Place in Galkayo on April 22

The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) will host the Quarterly Country Humanitarian Forum on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Galkayo city, Galmudug State, bringing together key stakeholders to address pressing humanitarian challenges in Somalia.

The forum serves as a critical platform for government officials, UN agencies, international NGOs, and local partners to coordinate responses to Somalia’s complex crises, including drought, displacement, food insecurity, and conflict-related needs. Discussions will focus on improving aid delivery, enhancing resilience, and aligning efforts with national priorities.

Galkayo’s selection as the host city underscores the importance of decentralizing humanitarian coordination and ensuring regional voices are heard. Galmudug State, which has faced recurring humanitarian emergencies, will be a focal point for strategies to strengthen community-based solutions.

Expected outcomes include updated response plans, renewed funding commitments, and actionable recommendations to mitigate Somalia’s humanitarian needs in 2025.
