The meeting between Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh in Djibouti emphasized the critical importance of respecting Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
President Mohamud and President Guelleh of Somalia and Djibouti agreed on this when they held talks in Djibouti on Monday.
The two leaders stressed maintaining peace, security, and stability in the Horn of Africa and across the entire African continent.
Additionally, they highlighted the necessity of ensuring a smooth transition from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) to the new mission, the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), which is set to replace ATMIS in the near future.
This transition is crucial for the continued stability and security in Somalia and the region.
