Authorities in Somaliland have released 12 politicians from opposition parties.
Before their release, the 12 opposition politicians had been in Mandheere Prison, which is in Hargeisa.
The politicians left the Hargeisa prison on Tuesday, July 6.
Their release took place following a mediation meeting between President Muse Bihi Abdi and a committee that visited him.
The mediation committee approached President Bihi with legislators from the House of Elders.
The 12 politicians had been in prison since June 9 when police officers arrested them in Somaliland’s capital city. They were participating in an anti-government protest.
