Somaliland has threatened to arrest the senators who were elected to represent the country in the Upper House in Somalia this week.
Eleven individuals were elected senators in the recent regional elections for the Upper House seats to represent Somaliland.
Three female senators are among the newly elected group.
On October 2, Vice President Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail Saylici announced that Somaliland would arrest some of the new senators.
He announced that the delegates who took part in the elections did so without the permission of the Somaliland government.
The Vice President told the senators that they are not welcomed in Somaliland.
Saylici warned the senators that they would be arrested the moment they set foot in Hargeisa.
