President Muse Bihi Abdi’s administration has announced plans to carry out a population census around the country.
Hassan Gafaadi, Somaliland’s Minister of National Planning, made this announcement while addressing the House of Representatives on August 10.
He said funds for the exercise would be included in the government’s budget for the 2020-21 financial year.
Furthermore, he also briefed the legislators on the activities the Ministry of National Planning is engaged in around the country.
Gafaadi said the ministry would carry out the census in the six capitals of the major regions around the country.
Specifically, he mentioned Hargeisa, Erigavo, Las Anod, Burao, Berbera, and Borame.
Nevertheless, the expectation is that the national planning ministry and other government departments have planned to carry out population census across the entire country.
