Somaliland Hits out at Egypt for Attacking it’s MoU with Ethiopia

The government of Somaliland has expressed strong disappointment in response to recent remarks by the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs on its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ethiopia.

During a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, the Egyptian minister attacked the agreement that Somaliland and Ethiopia signed on January 1st this year.

Somaliland’s government criticized the statements as being inaccurate and misleading, arguing that they disregard the sovereign rights of the Somaliland people.

Somaliland maintains that the MoU is a legitimate exercise of its sovereign authority.

In the press conference, Egypt vowed to stand by and support Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Egypt urged Ethiopia to respect Somalia.
