Somaliland in Joint Campaign with Ethiopia to Curb Wildlife Trafficking

Authorities in Somaliland have announced plans to set up a joint campaign with Ethiopia to curb wildlife trafficking.

These follows the recent identification of Somaliland as a regional hub for wildlife trafficking.

A high-level meeting took place in Jigjiga, the administrative capital of Ethiopia’s Somali Region on November 10.

Discussions between the two sides lasted two days.

Officials from Somaliland, Somali Region, and Ethiopia attended the discussions.

In recent months, Somaliland has rescued over 10 cheetahs that were on the verge of being smuggled out of the country.
