The government of Somaliland has lauded the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for launching the affordable electricity project.
Recently, the government announced that it would be managing the affordable electricity project jointly with Berbera Electricity Company.
UAE helped the Somaliland government to set up the 7MW solar energy project.
The project is part of the Ministry of Energy’s developmental infrastructure.
Through the project, the government intends to provide electricity to residents of Berbera, which has a population of around 50,000 people.
UAE’s Abu Dhabi Development Fund (ADDF) financed the project to the tune of US$7.98 million.
