Abdurrahman Abdullah Ismail, Somaliland’s Vice President, launched the country’s first car inspection and safety facilities.
During the event held on Monday, the Vice President cut the ribbon that declares the two Vehicle Inspection and Safety Centers officially opened.
The two facilities, which are jointly owned by Hass Petroleum and Al-Sharif Vehicle Inspection Company, are in Hargeisa, the country’s administrative capital.
While lauding the initiative, Vice President Ismail said that similar facilities would be launched in five major towns around the country.
With the opening of the two facilities, the government of Somaliland hopes that more lives would be saved by preventing accidents.
The newly launched facilities now have to inspect the roadworthiness of all vehicles operating in the country to safeguard lives and prevent deaths or injuries on the roads.
