The government of Somaliland has launched the second phase of the aerial spraying campaign to destroy locusts.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced that it would proceed with the joint campaign with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to eradicate locusts from the country.
Three aircrafts, which include helicopters, have been set aside for the campaign.
Locusts invaded Somaliland, and the Horn of Africa region towards the end of last year. Since then, they have caused untold damages and suffering to farmers in the region.
A second wave of the invasion took place mid this year. The second phase of the locust eradication campaign is designed to address this wave.
