Motorists in the breakaway region of Somaliland have been urged to honor and respect emergency sirens on the road.
Somaliland Police Service issued this reminder on Jul 31 on behalf of its Fire Brigade.
A spokesperson for the Fire Brigade spoke on Saturday night at the scene of a fire that razed a home and caused the deaths of two young boys in Hargeisa.
The spokesperson was speaking after rowdy youth pelted a fire engine with stones for arriving at the scene of the fire late when the two children had already lost their lives.
While addressing them, the spokesperson said that the fire fighters could have arrived much earlier if only other road users allowed them to pass.
Local residents partnered with the firefighters to put out the fire that threatened to cause more havoc.
