Somaliland National Police Force is to be reformed comprehensively to ensure that it serves the citizenry properly.
Brigadier General Mohamed Aden Saqadi Daba-Gale, Somaliland Police Commissioner, made the announcement recently.
Brig. Gen. Saqadi issued a directive encouraging the officers to be ready for reforms soon.
Saqadi was speaking while addressing a workshop held for the benefit of regional police commanders.
During his address, Brig. Gen. Saqadi spoke out against the deplorable conditions that police officers have to put up with while performing their duties.
As part of the reforms, the police chief said that all police stations would be clean. He also said that the relationship between police officers and members of the public would improve too.
Saqadi urged all police officers to learn to treat victims humanely.
Furthermore, he directed officers to respond to the needs and calls of victims promptly.
