A leading Somaliland politician has been linked with an armed militia that attacked and killed nine soldiers in Ga’an Libaah.
Abdirahman Irro, a leading opposition leader, was linked with the group that ambushed Somaliland soldiers on Friday.
Mohamed Kahin, the Minister of Interior, accused Irro of links with the group.
However, Irro spoke out on the matter on Friday.
He spoke against the use of violence, force, and the bullet to seek to solve differences between those with divergent views in Somaliland.
Irro also urged President Muse Bihi Abdi to recall soldiers deployed in Ga’an Libaah.
He added that recalling the military from the area would play a massive role in giving “peace a chance.” Further, Irro called upon the armed militia to lay down their weapons.
