The government of Somaliland has rejected the “Bahnaano” program that the Federal Government of Somalia had been advocating.
President Mohamed Abdilahi Farmaajo recently launched the program in Mogadishu.
Somaliland has informed the United Nations, African Union, and the European Union of its decision to resist the program.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement stating the country’s opposition of the program.
According to the foreign ministry, Somalia aims to mislead the international community.
Further, Somaliland has warned Somalia against meddling with its internal affairs. It also sent a letter to the World Bank asking it to review the aid sent to Somalia.
Hargeisa accuses Mogadishu of diverting aid from the World Bank to personal and political interests while sabotaging Somaliland’s tranquility.
