Somaliland Slams Somalia Ambassador for Walking out of a Nairobi Diplomatic Event

Somaliland has slammed the Somali Ambassador to Kenya for walking out of a diplomatic event held in Nairobi.

Ambassador Mohamed Nur Tarsan of Somalia left the event held in honor of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

He walked out in a huff to protest the decision by the organizers to erect the flag of Somaliland.

Ambassador Tarsan was also unhappy at the decision to treat Mohamed Ahmad Barawaani, the Somaliland Envoy to Kenya, as a full ambassador.

The event took place on Tuesday, June 14.

Somaliland, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said Ambassador Tarsan’s actions reflect the “hatred and long-term enmity” Somalia feels towards Somaliland.
