Somaliland Stops 228 Money Changers from Operating

The Somaliland government has stopped 228 money changers from operating anywhere in the country.

This follows a move by the Central Bank of Somaliland to revoke the licenses of hundreds of money changers this week.

The Chairman of the Central Bank said that the revocation applies to money changers operating in the mobile service sector.

Eng. Abdullahi Dahir, the Central Bank Chairman, added that the move was justifiable.

According to Eng. Dahir, the money changers had repeatedly failed to reapply for licensing for three years despite constant reminders from the Central Bank.
